Hi. I'm Sharon, the owner and breeder of
Big White Pines Dairy Goats.
(EMAIL: BIGWHITEPINES@proton.me)
Although I am particular about the bloodlines and quality of my Nigerian Dwarf goats, I raise them as a hobby and consider them all to be my pets. We love the health benefits of the fresh, creamy goat milk they provide for us; therefore, the Does must be bred nearly every year to maintain our milk supply. Of course, that means we get quite a few baby goat kids. Why not breed for the Very Best Kids Possible?
(Pictured here with Gary, my husband and "fence & barn builder".)
Our breeding bloodlines include:
Rosasharn, Antiquity Oaks, Blue Cactus, Twin Creeks, Castle Rock, Camanna, Calico Creek, Prairie Wood, Sugar Moon, NC Promisedland and more, reaching back to the turn of the century Goodwood and Old Mountain Farm championship lines.
Pictured above is my Blue eyed, Polled, Buckskin/Swiss combo, "BLUE CACTUS LL ELLIE SPITFIRE", one of our foundation does. Ellie is a daughter of the infamous YouTube Blue Cactus video channel star "BLUE CACTUS LADIES LOVE LUCKY" aka Luck Buck, who was a +*B buck.
The little kid on the left, a blue eyed, polled, Swiss marked buckling "BIGWHITEPINES O SPITFIRE SWISS", is being retained this year for potential future breeding buck status.
Ellie's "mini me" doeling also pictured here has been adopted.
Nigerian Dwarf Goat Kids + !!! Classic coat patterns as well as flashy little critters. We have both, but more importantly, we have sturdy, healthy kids, raised as naturally as possible, yet socialized by us to be friendly.
We have several Does and Bucks worthy of breeding to perpetuate their genetics. The kids that don't meet that mark make wonderful pets.
I breed mainly for good dairy characteristics, but also take the eye and coat colors and the polled (naturally hornless) status into consideration.
Although I have high quality stock, I try to keep the prices for my kids very reasonable for you. Prices are listed in individual descriptions. Wethered bucks sell for 1/2 price.

Pet Goats: 8 Things You Need to Know (thriftyhomesteader.com) This link is very helpful information (all in one place) from the well-known breeder, Deborah Niemann, owner of the Antiquity Oaks Herd. It was one of her Nigerian Dwarf does, ANTIQUITY OAKS COCO CHANEL, that was the grand dam of one of our foundation does, THE SWEET N SASSY SIENNA. Deborah Niemann, is also the author of the popular book, "Raising Goats Naturally, the complete guide to milk, meat and more" which I highly recommend.

We are in the northern panhandle of Idaho. It is a little less than an hour drive north of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho or Spokane, Washington.
BWPDG does not provide a delivery service, but can recommend one that we have used in the past. (Please note, delivery charges can run higher than the purchase price of your goat.)
Short answer... no. A goat needs a companion which "speaks the same language." A lone goat will not thrive. They may even become ornery trying to break through fences and wandering the neighborhood, looking for some goat companionship. Consider getting a (castrated male) low maintenance wether goat to keep your beloved goat company.
We no longer routinely vaccinate our goats. A few years ago, we tried vaccinating our new kids with CDT, mainly to prevent a potential Tetanus infection after disbudding or castrating them. We disliked the vaccine. In fact we disliked it so much, we soon changed our castrating method from "banding" to using a Burdizzo tool which elimated that possibility. We're also careful to protect the kids' skull area, after disbudding horn buds, with a special spray on medication which greatly reduces the chances of any infection. The "CD" part of the vaccine helps prevent the dangers caused by overeating disease. Our goats don't have access to the large, lush, green, Spring grass pastures often associated with overeating problems. If you will be raising your goat in such an area, you may want to consider consulting your Vet about the need for the CDT vaccine.
***Big White Pines Herd Testing Policy***
I do not regularly test my goats. They all came to me via private owners/farms I've known and trusted. Most have been tested prior to arriving here. (NO SALE BARN LIVESTOCK FOR ME) Regularly testing my entire herd of goats now is cost prohibitive for me. That said, should you find a Big White Pines goat you are seriously interested in and would like it tested, I am able to draw the blood sample for you and you are welcome to send it to the lab of your choice for testing (CL, CAE, Johnes). Your goat would be "on hold" here until you receive the results. Should there be an unexpected issue with the results, I would of course refund you the cost of testing.
FYI - Two of our 2023 season kids were recently tested. CLEAN RESULTS.
